alexWhale Sharks Cairns

Coral Sea adventures with Big Game offer you the opportunity of a lifetime to swim with Whale Sharks – the largest fish in the ocean. These gentle giants are friendly beasts that can grow up to 18 metres in length. Whale Sharks are plankton feeders and the warm waters in the Coral Sea support the growth of plankton. They use their wide mouth to scoop up large amounts of water and filter the plankton from it to consume. Rich plankton rises to the surface so snorkelling and free diving is the easiest way to experience these beasts. Very little is known about the habits of the Whale Sharks, but from observation and experience, they seem to annually visit the Coral Sea in November-January.

If the Whale Sharks can not be found, there are a number of secluded reef systems;first class diving for those who want to explore colourful coral gardens, drift along walls with 1000m drop offs and experience an exciting Shark Feed at “Osprey Reef”. The Osprey reef Shark Feed is world famous, were you will see 30+ grey reef sharks, white-tip reef sharks as well as other species.

Come on out, we’d love to have you with us. We recommend divers to be experienced and hold a PADI Advanced or equivalent. For any enquires please e-mail us at aj@biggame.net.au for more information about your once in a lifetime adventure!
